Cali Dream Grooming Policies

Matted Pets

Small mats in a few places can be removed if they are not too tight to the skin. I will not remove mats from the whole body or head of your pet for their safety and comfort. Mats can cause sensitive skin, bruising, sores, hematomas, and other health issues. Trying to remove these mats is not only painful for your pet, but is also dangerous. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn so limit their exposure outside. In some cases pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. As the owner, you are responsible for the condition of your pet’s coat and will not hold Cali Dream Grooming responsible in the event of adverse effects of mat removal.

Senior Pets or Pets with Health Concerns

I always do my best to groom to the owners specifications. When we have senior pets or pets with health concerns that do not do well physically or mentally with grooming, I will recommend a comfort groom. This will keep your pet comfortable, be low maintenance, and create a better overall grooming experience for your senior pet.

If your pet does have specific allergies please let me know prior to appointment so I can be sure all of the products I use on them are appropriate!

Aggressive Pets

I am trained to work with aggressive pets, and have had a break through with most that I have done over the years. That being said I cannot guarantee we will make it through the full groom if you pet will not tolerate it. Pushing them to far can result in injury, permanent aggression to others, and a very negative view on future grooming and handling. I am always open to suggestions, treats, and in special circumstances allowing the owner to be present and assist with grooming. If the groom cannot be completed, there will still be a minimum charge of $80 for the visit.

Groomer Cancelations

On rare occasions, Cali Dream Grooming may need to cancel appointments due to either, weather, road conditions, equipment failure, etc. Every effort will be made to contact you in advance. We will make every effort to reschedule your pet(s) as quickly and as conveniently as possible.

Appointment Cancellations

If you need to cancel your appointment I ask that you give 48 hours’ notice, so that I can give another client the opportunity to get their pet taken care of. If you do not cancel within 48 hours there will be a $40 cancellation fee due before being able to reschedule.
If I arrive at your home after confirming the appointment and you and your pet are not there and have not informed me, 50% of the groom will be due.

Vaccinations

All dogs and cats must be current on Rabies when applicable. Ex Goats, Pigs, and Pocket Pets do not need a Rabies vaccine. The only exception is puppies or kittens under 4 months of age.

Please Text or Email a copy of your pet’s vaccines prior to their spa day.

Please Be Honest and Upfront

We want the best for you and your fuzzy friends. That’s why we ask that you be honest and upfront about all problems that we may encounter with your pet’s grooming. These types of problems might include things like health issues, aggression, anxiety and matted hair.

Being upfront about these things can help you to save some time. If we encounter any of these issues during the grooming, it may cause us to have to take longer or reschedule the grooming in order to best accommodate your pet.
